Pre-installed CGI-Scripts
While HTML code is the basis of every web page, CGI scripts add
substantially more dynamic content to Internet sites. Road Runner has prepared
several cgi-scripts for the most important applications.
These scripts are available with each standard hosting plan. Programming
knowledge is not necessary for the implementation of these programs. CGI scripts
are programs that run on the server. CGI stands for "Common Gateway
Interface". It is an interface, over which external software can
communicate with the Internet server. These interfaces are necessary in order to
compensate for the differences between operating systems on which different Web
servers runs.
CGI-Email
Feedback from web site visitors can provide useful information about a
site's effectiveness. It can also be used to build a visitor or subscriber
database. Forms that send user information to site owners via email can be
implemented to gather information about site visitors. Road Runner offers account
holders complete instructions on using CGI-Email as well as a tool that they can
use to build CGI-Email forms:
